Our Main Aim
To achieve recognition, both nationally and internationally, as a successful and inclusive regional university, proud of our diversity, committed to new modes of learning which focus on students and enhance their employability, and renowned for our contribution to social, cultural, and economic development, especially through our research and scholarship.
What we do as an organisation
- UEL currently runs both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes through its eight University Schools – Architecture & Visual Arts, Computing & Technology, Business, Education, Health & Bioscience, Law, Psychology, and Social Sciences, Media and Culture Studies.
- UEL undertakes research work which is aimed at making a positive contribution to not only the community, environment, and economy of our region, but also to the improved well being of disadvantaged groups around the world.
- UEL is also committed to collaborating with local business’s and utilising our wealth of expertise, research capabilities, and facilities to help business start-ups and established business’s to become more profitable, competitive, and sustainable.
What we did as part of the Celebrating Enterprise project
- UEL will be running a short course in ‘Digital Design for Carnivals and Festivals’. This is a 5 week course designed to give participants an insight into Photoshop and how it can aid the creation of banners, flags, or carnival garments.
- UEL will be a key partner in the research and evaluation activities that will be taking place throughout the duration of the project.
- UEL will be helping to devise and implement capacity building activities for festival partners, as well as supporting the broader dissemination effort.
Who we work with
UEL’s target audience is any person wishing to undertake a university course. UEL’s vibrant multicultural community reflects the diverse and cosmopolitan nature of East London and brings together people from around 120 countries and many different backgrounds.
