Carnaval del Pueblo

Our Main Aims

To encourage members of the Latin American grass roots community in London to attain their rightful place in British society and reach their full potential, often through the celebration, practise and sharing of cultural heritage.

What we do as an organisation

  • Organising and delivering the Carnaval del Pueblo event, Europe’s biggest Latin American festival, consisting of a parade from City Hall to Burgess Park as well as a music and cultural festival in Burgess Park
  • Recruiting volunteers and securing resources, often in kind, to deliver the annual Nina Simpatia children’s talent competition to elect the Carnaval Del Pueblo Princess

What we do as part of the Celebrating Enterprise project

  • Through our network of artists, performers and festival traders, we are able to promote the training and support activities offered by other project partners (further education colleges and business advice agencies) directly to the target audience for the Celebrating Enterprise project.
  • Deliver float and costume making workshops as well as develop a Latin American artists’ agency.
  • Organise the Carnaval del Pueblo event as a platform for enterprise development and business creation.

Who we work with

The Latin American asylum seeker and refugee community in London and the UK as well as the London voluntary sector.
