Starting your own business

CitySpark

CitySpark is the year-round student innovation and enterprise programme delivered to students of all Schools right across City.

The programme provides a dynamic entrepreneurial environment where students can develop ideas for new or improved products, services or social enterprises. CitySpark is designed to help students come up with ideas, and if they are interested in doing so, making those ideas into reality!

For more information register with CitySpark.

Get expert advice on your idea

Got a really good business idea but don't know what to do next? Or, do you already have a business but need advice on how to grow it?

Working in partnership with the Peter Cullum Centre for Entrepreneurship (PCCE), our Startup Surgeries are designed to give expert advice and direction on how to get your ideas off-the-ground and then make them a success!

We have two types of appointment:

1. Do you need an opinion on your idea or just have a few questions you'd like to ask?

You can now book a meeting with us for an initial evaluation or to clarify any questions you have.

2. Is your idea a bit more advanced and you are ready to take it to the next level?

If you have already met us and would like to talk about the progress of your idea, book a follow-up meeting.

Once logged in to CareersHub search for appointments and then select from either:

1. Business Idea Review - for early ideas and to find out more about our services.

2. Business Development - if you are a start-up and want more advice on how to grow the business.

Tier 1 Graduate Entrepreneurs

The Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur) visa is aimed at students who have successfully completed a degree course and who want to develop their ideas and entrepreneurial skills by setting up a business in the UK.In order to be granted this visa you need to apply to and be endorsed by City.

In order to be endorsed you need to have a viable business idea and be able to provide evidence of demand through feedback with real paying customers (or potential customers).

You can book a Business Idea Review to find out more about the Tier 1 Graduate Entrepreneurs programme.
