What can I gain by attending this fair?

Career fairs provide an excellent avenue for obtaining information about different career fields, specific company culture and work opportunities.

You will be able to speak with HR representatives and graduate trainees on a more informal level to find out what employers expect from applicants and gain useful tips and advice for the application and selection process. This is a rare opportunity to meet with lots of companies within just a couple of hours and may well be your chance to make an impression on what could be your future employer.

Whether you are looking for a training contract, a pupillage, a summer internship, pro bono work or would just like learn more about legal career opportunities, come to the City Law Fair and you will definitely find something for you there!

Come along to the fair if you are...

  1. a final year student looking to apply for jobs in 2009/10.

  2. a first or second year student looking for placements and summer internships

  3. a postgraduate student looking for graduate schemes or roles that match your qualifications and experience.

  4. a student wanting to learn more about opportunities in the engineering, science and IT sectors

  5. a recent City graduate looking for an immediate or future job

From 2-4pm, City University students and graduates can use the fair to get their CV checked and receive professional advice from our careers team. If you need us to review your CV and cover letter before the fair, please call 020 7040 8093 to book an appointment with a Careers Consultant.

Do I need to register in advance?

Yes, this year you will need to register in advance by completing our online booking form.

Regard this sign up as a commitment on your part. Sign up, turn up! Low/non attendance reflects negatively on the University, and effectively discourages companies from returning for other campus based events.

Note that online booking for City students will close on 27/10/09 at 5pm. After this, you will be asked to register on the door. You MUST bring your student ID card.

From 3pm the fair will also be open to students and recent graduates from other UK institutions

    Note that:

    • Students from other institutions MUST register at least 2 days before the event
    • Students from other institutions that have not registered in advance will NOT be allowed entry.
    • Students from other institutions MUST bring a valid student ID card
    • There will be security checks and bag searches

What do I need to do before attending?

We strongly encourage attendees to do some homework in advance.  It will look better to the recruiter if you can show you are interested enough to have done some research beforehand.  If you appear ill-informed you will not impress.

Learn how to present yourself to employers in the best way possible and get VIP entry for the first hour of the fair...

To help you make the most out of the Law Fair there will be workshops running prior to the event. If you attend one of these workshops, you will be given a VIP fair pass which allows exclusive entry for the first hour of ANY fair (from 1.30pm).
