Why should I attend a careers fair?

  • You will have the opportunity to talk to representatives from a number of different companies within a specific sector and get information about the opportunities available for students and/or graduates and the skills they are looking for.
  • You can get useful information and tips regarding the application and selection process and thus maximise your chance of being successful at those stages.
  • You can access the "hidden labour market" by gaining information about jobs that are not widely advertised.
  • You can get a feel for the different organisational cultures by meeting the people who work there.
  • You will be able to ask the type of questions that you wouldn't be able to ask at an interview.

Be prepared, Be professional...

Not sure how to approach the employers who'll be there? Don’t be stuck with nothing to say, make sure you check out our tips on how to prepare in order to make the most of this event.

What other events can I attend?

In addition to career fairs, the Centre for Career and Skills Development hosts many company information sessions and skills workshops throughout the year to enable students to learn more about potential employers. Employers use this time to share their company history, promote their organisation, describe their company culture, talk about career paths and opportunities and share tips for applications and interviews.  These informal information sessions provide the means for students to learn more about the employers they are considering before participating in the application and selection process.

City University students and graduates may refer to the Calendar of Events for more details on each workshop.

I'm not a City/Cass student or graduate, can I attend?

All City University London Career Fairs, apart from the Banking Fair, are open to students from any institution from 3pm onwards.

You will need to book on to each fair separately using our online booking forms.

  • Students from other institutions MUST register at least 2 days before the event
  • Students from other institutions that have not registered in advance will NOT be allowed entry.
