Target audience

The fair will be primarily aimed at Law students but will be open to students from other courses as well, who are thinking of pursuing a career in law. The event will be open to students from all UK Universities. First year students are encouraged to attend so that they can research organisations and vacation opportunities. Further information about the range of courses at City and their academic content can be found here.

Aim of the event

Our aim is to help both our students and recruiting firms and chambers by giving them the opportunity to meet and discuss recruitment plans and practices.  We hope the event will be a chance for you to share with prospective applicants what you expect of them and how they can make the most of their applications to you.

Students would expect to meet with company representatives as well as human resources/recruitment staff who are well informed about the organisation and able to provide insight into the job tasks, company culture and career paths you offer.

Attendance and Marketing

This is one of our largest recruitment fairs on campus, and is early in our Autumn Term, when interest from students is at its height. We are running the fair on a Wednesday afternoon, when no lectures are being held at the University (all lectures finish at 12/1pm) to ensure maximum attendance. The fair will be broadly advertised on our website and intranet, through email alerts to academic departments and students and via brochures and posters around campus.

Law at City

Law has been taught at City since 1977. The GDL course in particular is one of the largest and most respected in the UK, with a strong reputation with the Bar and amongst City law firms. The other academic programmes include LLB degrees - in Law, a unique programme in Law and Property Valuation and a graduate entry LLB - and a specialist LLM programme which includes International Law, Human Rights, Environmental Law and Criminal Litigation, with a route in International Commercial Law, including options to specialise in International Competition Law and Maritime Law. More information on the above courses as well as our BVC and LPC provision can be found at http://www.city.ac.uk/law/ .

This is an excellent opportunity for you to raise your profile on campus and generate high quality applications at the very start of the recruitment season, ensuring that final and pre-final year students are aware of you and your graduate vacancies and work experience opportunities

Prize Draws

We often have prize draws for students who attend our Career fairs and we are constantly looking for employers to sponsor these. The prizes can be anything from ipods, mobile phones, laptops and memory sticks to work shadowing opportunities, language courses and weekend breaks. We have found this type of initiatives get students interested and are an excellent way of raising your profile on campus. As a sponsor of one -or all - of the prizes, your name, along with a link to your website will be in all advertising material (online and hard copy) produced for the specific event.
