By applying to enrol, you agree to the rules and regulations of the University and the terms and conditions stated here. Please ensure that you have read and understood the terms and conditions before enrolling.
Once we have received your enrolment details and payment, we will send you an email confirming your place on the course. Please bring a print-out of this email to the first class. If you enrolled or paid shortly before the beginning of term and have not yet received your confirmation email, please phone to confirm that a place is available before travelling, as no guarantee of availability can be given.
On the first class of your course, please go to your classroom where an ID badge will be issued by your tutor. This should be worn at all times when on University premises. All room numbers will be listed at the St John Street and Northampton Square entrances on the first evening of the course.
The University reserves the right to make changes in regulations, syllabuses, fees etc, without prior notice. Complaints about the accuracy of information in the prospectus and related course documents should be made, in writing, to the Academic Registrar. Any complainants who feel their complaints have not been dealt with satisfactorily may write to the Quality Assurance Agency.
The tutors for each course listed in this brochure are correct at the time of going to print but are subject to change as tutor availability cannot be guaranteed. Tutor biographies are illustrative of the calibre of staff and do not form part of a contract.
City University reserves the right to cancel a course (if, for example, there are insufficient numbers). If this occurs, we will refund your course fee in full.
If a course is full when you submit your enrolment form, we will give you a full refund and keep your details on record in case any enrolled students drop out before the course begins.
It may be necessary, on occasions, to change the date of a particular class meeting at short notice (if, for example, a tutor is ill). If this occurs we will contact you on the contact telephone number you give us on your enrolment form. Hours will be made up, wherever possible, at a time and date mutually convenient to the class and tutor.
Refunds will be given, minus a 15% administration charge, if written notification is received at least 14 days before the start of term. No refunds will be given with less than 14 days written notice. Distance learning students please note that, once in receipt of your coursework, you will be deemed to have commenced your course and no refunds will be given.
If you want to transfer from one course to another, you are required to pay a fee of £25 for each transfer.
(This fee is not payable if the course from which you are transferring is cancelled.)
Any refunds will be made to your credit/debit card if you originally paid in this way. If you paid by cash or cheque, you will be refunded by BACS, which can take up to four weeks.
Students are issued with a University card on the first meeting of the course. This should be worn at all times when on University premises. ACCESS TO THE UNIVERSITY MAY BE DENIED IF YOU DO NOT HAVE YOUR CARD.
The University is registered under current UK Data Protection law. It holds data in electronic and paper form on students’ personal details, academic and administrative history, on any relevant financial transactions and on their use of University facilities.
Most of this information is necessary for us to properly administer student studies with the University, for example the recording and processing of assessment results, the determination of final award outcomes, and the production of management information statistics.
In addition, the University is required by law to collect and provide information on every student to certain external agencies.
Students and other users of the University have the right of access to personal data relating to themselves that is held by the University in electronic format and/or manual records* forming part of a ‘relevant filing system’ (*subject to the provisions of the Act governing transitional relief). Any individual who wishes to exercise this right should apply using a subject access request form. A fee of £10 is required and the University has a period of 40 days in which to provide the required information. Enrolment forms are available from the Registry and returned to the Data Protection Officer.
By applying to enrol at City University you agree to abide by the rules and regulations of the University, including the refund policy. You agree to the University processing personal data contained in the enrolment form, or other data which the University may obtain from you or other people whilst you are a student, for purposes connected with your studies, your health and safety or for any other legitimate reasons
