John Wright (Continuous Education and Adult Learning 2000), is a Founder Trustee of AWF Volunteering Abroad. Now in retirement, John hopes to spend more time at the charity, increasing awareness of its work amongst other City alumni and augmenting its programmes.

Feedback from students at City has shown that students increasingly want innovative ways to engage with employers, with more “real life” exposure to industry. Our Work Shadowing Scheme has been developed in response to this, to offer our students an opportunity to shadow a professional for one day who has specific knowledge about an occupation or career in which they are interested.

Rob Woodward has been appointed as Pro-Chancellor of City University London and will chair the University Council from February 2012. He has been a member of the Council since 2006 and Deputy Pro-Chancellor since 2009.

City’s first journalism PhD was awarded to Frederic Newlands Hunter in 1984. The theme of his thesis was “Grub Street and Academia: the Relationship Between Journalism and Education, 1880-1940, with Special Reference to the London University Diploma for Journalism, 1919-1939″.
