Singing the earliest music

We will consider the interpretive challenges facing performers and listeners of the earliest notated European vocal music by looking at early vocal repertories from two perspectives:

a) the original sources (early notation, treatises, etc.); and
b) the work of modern performers as seen (and heard) in recordings, interviews and modern scholarship.
