Reading as a writer

Reading as a writer

Reading widely is an essential part of novel writing.

This module aims to enable you to critically analyse novels and then use that analysis to inform your own work.

We make a point of concentrating on recent novels and first novels - we want you to read what's out there, to target your 'role models' and genuinely understand the sort of book you could and should be writing.

We also help you to write publishable literary reviews and essays.

Each year thousands of crime thriller novels are published; it is the biggest single genre sector. We continually identify the key authors and publications to direct students to work that constantly raises the bar.
