Centre for Music Studies

Love Music? How to turn your passion into the career you’ve always wanted

At City we take a unique approach to music education, ensuring you are able to immerse yourself in the subject you love at the highest possible level while also preparing for the job market. As a result, 95 per cent of our music graduates were in employment or further study six months after graduation (UniStats, 2012).

Our degree structure enables you to explore a range of music‐related careers, including optional modules in sound recording, music business studies, entrepreneurship and music therapy. It also includes the possibility of a work placement module in the second year. Consequently, our graduates have gone on to varied careers as performers (both solo and in orchestras, groups and ensembles), sound recording engineers, music administrators, music therapists, teachers, marketers and entrepreneurs.
