Lis Howell

Lis Howell is Director of Broadcasting and head of the MA courses in Broadcast and Television Journalism.
She began as a producer and reporter at BBC Radio Leeds in 1973. In 1976, she joined Border Television in Carlisle, and in 1979 she went to Granada TV as a reporter. From there she went to Tyne Tees TV as a reporter/presenter.
In 1986, she became the Head of News at Border TV and covered the Lockerbie disaster in 1989, winning an RTS Award. She became Managing Editor of Sky News in 1990 and was the first Director of Programmes at GMTV, before starting the UK Living Channel for Flextech TV, now Virgin Media.
She left in 2000 to go to Harvard Business School before joining City in 2001.
