Overview

Brenda Stones worked for 30 years in mainstream educational publishing. Starting as a graduate trainee at Cambridge University Press, she progressed to Hutchinson Education, Macmillan Education, Pearson Education, Collins Education and ultimately spent twelve years at Oxford University Press as Publishing Director of the Education division. She has since worked in smaller trade companies including Walker Books, National Gallery Company and Letts Education.

Brenda works as a freelance consultant for a range of publishers, including BBC Children's, Egmont Books, Hodder Education, Routledge, Trent Editions. She has written educational series for Badger Publishing, Franklin Watts, and WH Smith.

Brenda is an experienced lecturer and trainer. She has been a lecturer for the Publishing Training Centre on 'Commissioning and List Management', 'Publishing Programme Management', 'What is Marketing?', and 'Working with Authors'; and for Oxford Brookes on their undergraduate and postgraduate publishing modules. She has also delivered in-house training courses for Which?, Scottish Qualifications Authority, Lonely Planet, Gill and Macmillan and has run training courses in Pakistan, Colombia, Mexico, Romania, Bratislava, Ukraine, Georgia, Eritrea and Nigeria.

Brenda also runs her own small poetry press, Pisces Press.
