Employability Placement and Internships

Your career

The School of Arts and Social Sciences is dedicated to ensuring that its students leave City with the experience and tools needed to be competitive and successful graduates. Working closely with the City Careers Department and UK and International industry leaders the school is continuously developing the opportunities available to ensure students have access to work-based learning, internships and employability-enhancing services.

Placements and Internships

SASS have a number of programmes with integrated placement activity which include:

Integrated Professional Training Programme

Every undergraduate student has the opportunity undertake a one year work placement whilst completing their programme. This is possible through joining the Integrated Professional Training Programme. Participants would extend their degree to 4 years, gaining the work experience through a placement or internship during their 3rd year at City, returning to complete their degree in the 4th year.

Successful completion of this programme will result in the adjustment of your degree to BA/BSc/BMus in…with Integrated Professional Training

By completing this programme students are able to put their learning into practice in a work context and develop important industry contacts and networks, which may lead to future employment opportunities.

This is particularly useful for international students wishing to gain work experience in the UK.

Information and support for this programme is provided by the SASS Placements Team (contact details on the right).

On-course placement opportunities

Many SASS courses incorporate work placement modules into the programme of study giving you the opportunity to build industry experience whilst on course.
