Overview
Isabelle is the head of the Centre for Language Studies at City University London. She holds a BA and MA in English and American Literature and Civilisation from the University of Montpellier in France.Before she moved to England she studied Linguistics and Psychology at the Ludwig Maximilian Universitat of Munich.
She trained as a language tutor and holds the RSA TEFL certificate which emphasises a communicative approach to language teaching.
She teaches French for both Specific and General Purposes, as well as European Business Culture in English.
Research interests and activities
Her main research interest is Educational Research with a focus on organisational changes and policies in Higher Education, an area she is researching for her PhD. She is particularly interested in the effects of policy changes on organisational cultures and structures in HE institutions, as well as the effects of technology and its implementation on teaching and learning.She has developed the use of language electronic portfolios to showcase her students' work in a foreign language as well as methods of assessing their levels of linguistic competence in a foreign language.
She created FrenchVita, an online French programme for general purposes which runs on the Virtual Learning Environment at City and helps students to learn French online from Beginners to Advanced level.
In 2002 she received a Teaching and Learning Fellowship from City University and she uses her research to enhance her teaching.
