Languages for General Purposes (LGP)

All students and members of staff from City University London can take a free-standing module in French, German or Spanish for general purposes.

These courses are part of a wide-ranging programme of European languages offered free of charge to all students and members of staff at City.

This type of course is intended to provide a general knowledge of the language relevant to its practical and day-to-day use. Courses generally start at the beginning of the academic year and run for two terms.

Students are also assessed with coursework and a final examination and those who successfully pass the course will receive a certificate of completion from the Centre.

The courses are delivered at the following levels:

• Lower Intermediate
• Upper Intermediate
• Advanced
