Overview

Dr Sepehr Jalali is currently working on the BBSRC funded project, "New methodologies to explain and improve the expert anticipatory advantage in sports decision making" (2013-2016, FEC £469,644) with Dr Kielan Yarrow (principal investigator), from Department of Psychology and Professor Joshua Solomon (co-investigator), from City's Department of Optometry and Visual Science.

He completed his PhD in National University of Singapore in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering under topic of "Simulating Hierarchical Structure of Human Visual Cortex for Image Classification". During his PhD studies he also received a Graduate Certificate in Management of Technology. He completed a Post-doctoral Research Fellowship with the Tropical Marine Science Institute in National University of Singapore upon completion of his PhD studies.

Research interests

Image classification, neural networks, support vector machines, biologically inspired models of human visual cortex for image classification, scene classification, action recognition and decision making.
