School of Arts
The School of Arts has a focus on the study and development of the arts, media and cultural enterprise.
We have extensive links with those working in these sectors, in England and abroad, through our alumni network, our world-class reputation and our vast list of industry-based guest speakers and visiting professors.
Graduate employment rates are consistently high across the School and we help shape thinking and practice at many levels in these professions.
Research
The Centre for Music Studies has an outstanding research profile, with an 'esteem indicator' of 100 per cent in the 4* (highest) category in the latest Research Assessment Exercise, placing it in the top 15 in the UK for music research.
The Centre for Cultural Policy and Management is the longest-established centre of its kind in the country, and is internationally-renowned for its research into cultural policy, arts and cultural management, and the creative economy.
In Translation Studies we have a strong commitment to developing interdisciplinary approaches and inter-relationships between the academic and the professional.
The Department of Journalism has an expanding research programme and a strong interdisciplinary focus, partly through its involvement with City's Centre for Law, Justice and Journalism.
The School has developed a strong culture of working with commercial and not-for-profit organisations who wish to benefit from our expertise.
