Investing in the Business of Creativity
In 2007 we launched an exciting campaign to raise £12m to redevelop our School of Arts.
The Arts Campaign aims to refurbish areas of the School which were affected by a devastating fire in our College Building in 2001.
As a result of the disaster, our Departments of Journalism; Music; and Cultural Policy and Management were split and some of our students have had to work from temporary spaces.
By redeveloping the School of Arts, we hope to create world-class facilities to match our outstanding academic record. Our vision is to bring the School together in a dynamic and exciting educational environment in which the musicians, journalists and cultural leaders of the future can truly flourish.
Thanks to the help of our friends and supporters, we have raised over £11.7m.
The development was completed this year and includes a purpose built suite for journalism; new research and performance areas for music; communal learning and social spaces; provision for short courses; community and enterprise activity; and new accommodation for staff.
These are exciting times at City. The development has dramatically enhanced the quality of the student experience and will make a lasting contribution to the academic, cultural and financial health of the University and the local community.
We are now entering the final push of our campaign and need to raise a further £300,000 to purchase outstanding equipment.
I am interested in supporting The Arts Campaign.
As part of the campaign we are also looking for sponsors interested in supporting scholarships/bursaries and academic posts within the School of Arts.
