Gifts in Memory
City, University of London is grateful for the opportunity to honour individuals through memorial gifts. For family and friends, these gifts can be an especially meaningful way to commemorate a loved one - while also furthering City's commitment to delivering outstanding education and research.
A Memorial Fund can be a wonderful way to honour an individual's memory in perpetuity. The City Staff Memorial Fund aims to recognise and remember those former members of staff whose achievements during their lifetime have made a significant difference to the institution.
This page is dedicated to those former members of staff; and the family, friends and colleagues who wish to honour their memory.
Dr Christiana Dymiotis-Wellington
Dr Christiana Dymiotis-Wellington was a Senior Lecturer in Civil Engineering, Admissions Tutor for the Civil Engineering undergraduate course and Course Director of the MSc in Civil Engineering Structures. She had begun her relationship with City as an undergraduate on the civil engineering course, graduating with first class honours, before moving to Imperial College for postgraduate studies culminating in the award of a PhD. After a brief period at Heriot-Watt University as a lecturer she returned to City rapidly establishing herself as immensely important member of the civil engineering academic team.
Christiana enjoyed teaching and interacting with students and they responded to her enthusiasm and the sense that she really cared about them, not just teaching but ensuring that they had the best possible experience during their studies. She was also an active researcher and enjoyed working with her research students and a range of postgraduate and undergraduate project students.
Your donation will be used to help ensure that Christiana's memory and work are acknowledged are remembered in the Department of Civil Engineering. Your gift combined with donations of others may be used to support prizes for outstanding achievement or essential supplies for the department.
