Our new contact for Brazil is Gilberto Cysneiros Filho (Computer Science PhD 2011):
"From an early age, when I received a Tk85 (the equivalent of a Sinclair ZX81 produced in Brazil) as a Christmas gift, computers have fascinated me. As a result of this, I spent endless hours in front of a computer.
At 15, I enrolled on a university foundation degree in Electronics, a large part of which was focused on computer hardware. Having successfully completed this degree, I decided to pursue my love of this field further by undertaking a BSc in Computer Science, which I followed up with an MSc in Computer Science. With my enthusiasm still in place, I decided to start one more degree, this time a PhD in Computing at City in 2002, which I finished in 2011. At the moment, I am working as Lecturer at Federal Rural University of Pernambuco.
My teaching experience started in Brazil, where I worked at the Department of Computing, Federal University of Pernambuco as a teaching assistant, and at the Department of Computing, Salgado Oliveira University (UNIVERSO), as a visiting lecturer. In industry, I worked at C.E.S.A.R. (Recife Center for Advanced Studies and Systems) as a process engineer.
My plan as international contact of the City alumni group is to promote the institution in Brazil and give information about City to people that wish to take a course".
