Ask Alumni

Both City alumni and students can access targeted careers guidance through the Ask Alumni online mentoring tool.

nullIn this increasingly competitive employment market there is no substitute for realistic advice from someone who has been professionally successful. The Ask Alumni online mentoring tool enables alumni to share their experience of breaking into a particular field or suggest ways for students / other alumni to develop their careers.

About Ask Alumni

Ask Alumni is currently made up of over 240 Mentors. Ask Alumni Mentors provide careers advice and professional development guidance to current students and other alumni. As former students, Ask Alumni Mentors have a unique understanding of what it's like to study at City. They also have the experience of graduating and entering the job market with a City degree.

How Ask Alumni Works

Each Ask Alumni Mentor has an entry in our password protected database which includes the following information:

1. Course studied
2. Year graduated
3. Job title
4. Company
5. Notes on area of career experience

Based on this information, the alumnus or student looking for an Ask Alumni mentor selects somebody they think can help them and uses the automated system to make contact - the Ask Alumni mentor's e-mail address is NOT shown at this stage. The Ask Alumni mentor then decides whether or not they can help and, if so, how they want to proceed.

Volunteering as an Ask Alumni mentor

For alumni, being an Ask Alumni mentor is a fulfilling way to engage with current students, meet other professionals, develop new skills and gain valuable volunteering experience. It is also just one of the many opportunities alumni have to stay connected with City.

To volunteer as an Ask Alumni mentor please visit the Ask Alumni website.
