Religious Exam Arrangements
The information on this page is directed to observant Jewish students. If you are not of the Jewish faith but believe that your exam will be affected by another religious observance, please contact the Exams Office.
If you are an observant Jewish student you could be entitled to appropriate Religious Arrangements during examination periods.
If any of your exams are timetabled during a Jewish holiday or Friday afternoon (when there is an early sundown), please make sure that you follow the correct procedure so that we can arrange for you to sit your exam at a more appropriate time.
Application Procedure
To receive Religious Arrangements please abide by the following two-step procedure at least four weeks prior to the commencement of exams:
1. Download a Religious Arrangements RE1 Form.
This form can be completed electronically and then returned to exams@city.ac.uk. Please note that you must complete separate copies of this form for each examination period where your exams are affected.
2. Provide a letter from your Rabbi confirming your Jewish observance (printed on official Synagogue letter headed paper). If you have previously supplied this letter, you do not need to re-supply it. However, you must tell us and that a letter has already been supplied and which examinations will be affected by religious arrangements using the RE1 form.
Upon receipt of these documents your requirements will be arranged and you will then be contacted directly. Jewish students with Religious Arrangements will sit their exams in the Special Arrangements room, and will be required to sign a Confidentiality Agreement promising not to communicate details of the exam paper with any student from their course.
