Academic Year Structure
The academic year structure divides the year into three overarching periods which are then categorised further depending on whether students are undergraduate or postgraduate level. Within those three periods the individual course dates will vary.
The academic year from 2010-11 has been revised as part of the Review of Undergraduate Education. The postgraduate academic year has also been revised. Find information on the academic year from 2010-11.
All programmes are expected to follow the overall Undergraduate and Postgraduate Academic Year structure unless one of the following applies:
- a professional, statutory or regulatory body requirement;
- a funding requirement;
- constraints resulting from the use of an alternative mode of delivery;
- over-riding market considerations.
If a programme wishes to run a concurrent structure they should apply for this as part of Stage 1 programme approval and/or during a programme review.
