Doctoral Track Scheme (Staff)

The Doctoral Track was launched as a research and enterprise initiative by the University in October 2010 in order to provide support to staff wishing to pursue a doctoral qualification and to meet the wider objectives of the University. The main aims of the scheme are to:

  1. publicise the availability of routes into doctoral study across the University and to encourage academic staff to pursue a doctoral qualification;
  2. provide advice and support to staff in choosing the appropriate route into doctoral study;
  3. provide additional support and guidance to staff undertaking doctoral research through the Research and Enterprise Development Programme.

The routes by which staff may pursue a doctoral qualification are:

a)      major thesis;
b)      structured components;
c)      prior publication;
d)      professional  study;
e)      prospective publication.

For further information on the purpose of the Doctoral Track Scheme and how to apply please refer to the guidelines on the Scheme.

For advice on which doctoral route might be appropriate for you please contact your School's Associate Dean for Research and/or the Senior Tutor for Research within your Department/Centre. Once you are clear about which route is the most appropriate for you and agreed your research area with your supervisor(s) please complete the staff application form in order that registration on the scheme may be arranged.
