Dr William Jordan, College Secretary

College Secretary Dr William Jordan Dr William Jordan became College Secretary (formerly University Secretary) at City in September 2015. His role is to administer and support the Council and its committees and he reports to the Chair of Council. Following a PhD at St John’s College Cambridge, William became a Research Fellow in Ancient Greek Philosophy there in 1980, before teaching philosophy at New College Oxford as a College Lecturer from 1985 to 1990. William joined the Civil Service in 1991 and worked in the Department of Work and Pensions, HM Treasury, the Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit, the Office of Government Commerce, and as a Director General in the Efficiency and Reform Group in the Cabinet Office before leaving the Civil Service in 2013. He was from 2013 to 2016 a Non-Executive Director of Axelos Ltd.
