Join UCU

Membership of UCU is open to all academic or similar staff in the University. Full-time and part-time staff (including hourly paid visiting appointees and student demonstrators) are equally welcome, as are academic-related staff.

How to join

You may join by going to the UCU National site

Nursing and Midwifery teachers are eligible for joint RCN/UCU and RCM/UCU membership respectively. Joint membership with Amicus or the NUJ is also possible - see the national UCU website for more details.

Once your application is processed you will be sent a joining letter with your UCU membership number.

New members and personal representation

Once you have been issued with your membership number you will eligible for UCU advice and personal representation. However, you should note that this representation cannot be provided retrospectively, ie if the case or issues predate the application for membership.
